You may know that gratitude is dear to my heart, or maybe you don’t, but you soon will. This is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, but I consider thanksgiving or gratitude to be a daily (at least) practice.

I have another blog post about gratitude, you can read it here: Amazing Benefits of Gratitude.
Today I want to share that I am grateful for so many things: my family, turkey, all the help I had to get my books out into the world, my health, my work, the opportunities I have to travel and do such things as walk the Camino de Santiago!

That’s why my journal has a place to list things you are grateful for each day of your Camino.
In the book, Quest for the Enlightened Pilgrim, gratitude has a major role in the lessons that Lucy learns as a pilgrim and a student of the work of Charles Haanel.
She reads about gratitude in the Master Key System, but some of her fellow pilgrims share their gratitude lessons as well. Lucy befriends two men, Max and Joe, who are walking the Camino after being widowed.
Max smiled, and added, “We figure we could decide to be sad or decide to be happy and grateful for what we still have. We chose happy. The Camino reminds me daily of how much I have to be grateful for. Joe and I have adopted a daily gratitude practice. Focusing on what we are grateful for tends to expand our happiness.”
Later, Lucy meets Henrik, a table-dancing senior who has a few things to say on the subject of gratitude:
“I have a challenge for you, Lucy. One practice I have done for many years is to record, every day, my gratitude for three or more things. Did you know that what you think about grows, Lucy? When you think about what you are grateful for, more cause for gratitude appears. It is like inviting abundance into your life. Come on in, abundance, I am grateful! ”
I have a challenge for you to start your own gratitude practice. On way is to write at least three things each day on index cards. If you are having a down day, flip through a few cards and see if your outlook improves.
Wherever you live in the world - Happy Thanksgiving Day!
